taking several nods from old school trip-hop, blues, and glitch, the.blackout.district. incorporates several distinct layers to its music that have drawn comparisons to Portishead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and PJ Harvey.  in august 2007, the.blackout.district. has independently released one EP, “saccharine pipe dreams," produced by ted comerford (army of me, jukebox the ghost) and mixed by mitch easter (wilco, pavement, REM). the band is currently working on its second EP, recorded at Inner Ear Studios in Washington, DC, tentatively titeld "a short place for a long pause," scheduled for release in late 2008.
