Weekend Club Pick - Local indie rock newcomers THE BLACKOUT[.DISTRICT.] sport a bluesy '60's vibe, a female lead singer and enough electronic glitches and synth washes to keep their sound interesting. Close your eyes and see visions of the Velvet Underground.

I'm a little embarrassed to say but I found THE BLACKOUT DISTRICT doing a myspace search. As fortune has it, they've got a really nice sound and an MP3 available for download. Several tracks available from their website but the one I liked best was this gem called "Crooked in the Rain". They've got an new EP coming out and they've remixed a few of the songs from their site. So if you want a sneak peak be sure to visit their myspace page.

... THE.BLACKOUT.DISTRICT.'s set ... had a calming influence, one that would place anyone in a relaxed state after a long day at work. They have a soft melodic sound created by an interesting assortment of instruments, electronics and vocal mix. Amid the usual array of guitar, bass, keyboards and percussion, they also used a Melodica, as well as various synthesizers.
